You may have noticed very fine, little red veins on your nose or cheeks that haven’t always been there. These are facial spider veins, and they appear on both men and women as a normal part of aging and from other forms of damage to the skin.

They can also result from pregnancy, childbirth, birth-control pills and sun damage. Although spider veins are not usually a medical problem, they can certainly be an aesthetic one that makes most people feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.

At Epilette Cosmetics we use a treatment known as Advanced Diathermy for the removal of unwanted surface veins such as facial spider veins.

This advanced procedure takes place in our clinic, and is extremely safe and effective for removing these types of veins. It works by inserting a small needle into the site of the vein, which serves as a cautery (heat) injection. The heat completely disperses the contents of the vein, and the vein itself is destroyed.

Some patients report a slight burning sensation at the site of the injection, this is only mild and goes away after about 30 minutes. There may be some slight redness or swelling to the area treated, but this usually goes after just a few hours.

The effects are excellent, with most veins completely disappearing after just one treatment.
